Course Description

This 3-day course covers relevant topics on Port State Control such as its legal instruments and existing regional agreements. Detailed discussions on inspection procedures are included, with emphasis on priority inspections, document and certificate examination, manning standards, more-detailed inspections, expanded inspections, concentrated inspection campaigns, deficiencies, detention and rectification. Statistics of recent inspections on certain regions are likewise presented. Moreover, trainees are provided with a review of the auditing process, as well as suggested techniques in dealing with port state authorities.

This course is open to all officers, both deck and engine, in management or operational levels. Each participant should have completed training in the International Safety Management (ISM) course.
